Ditch heating oil and go green – free local support available

As we emerge from the Covid-19 lockdown, demand is growing for the government to lead a ‘green industrial revolution’. Although you may want to reduce your carbon emissions and have a greener lifestyle finding the time and money needed to make the changes may be difficult. Local support is available.

Forest Row Energy Co-op is a not-for-profit community energy group that is run by local industry experts. Their mission is to make energy cost less – to us and the environment. They have been awarded with a grant from the Rural Community Energy Fund to help rural households get rid of their oil heating and go renewable by installing heat pumps.

Heating oil is the most carbon intensive and price volatile way of heating our homes. Prices to buy heating oil are expected to climb again as lockdown ends. Many of the rural areas surrounding Forest Row also have 95% of properties relying on heating oil.  Converting to renewable heating offers great cost savings and is a must if we are going to meet our national carbon reduction targets.

If you would like to heat your home with renewable energy but have been put off by the cost or time to make the change, the project being run by Forest Row Energy can help you. Initially, 50 homes in the local area will be supported to install renewable heating.

If you live within 15 miles of Forest Row and heat your home with oil, you could get a free home assessment and financial analysis that will show you your best options and the savings you could make. You will also have the chance to access a local, not-for profit funding initiative to reduce your installation costs. This will be supported by a government subsidy for domestic renewable heating.

This is a great chance for you to make installing renewable heat for your home as easy and cost effective as possible.  All the support is free of charge and is offered on a no obligation basis. The home assessments have been designed so that no-one will need to enter your home or have face-to-face contact with you during the Covid-19 restrictions. Great news for our community.
