Storytelling Beyond Words – A day of story happenings at Emerson College
An invitation for a Summer Solstice story Celebration!.
Storytelling Beyond Words, (The 3 months full-time storytelling course I teach at the school of storytelling at Emerson College ), provides a transformative space of inspiration and inquiry, where we explore and listen together to what is calling each one of us and what might be our unique contribution in service of the greater whole.
The times we are living in present us with ever more concrete challenges; social inequalities, divisive politics, climate worries, and visible ecosystem collapse to name but a few. Our work is rooted in knowing that storytellers can respond to these challenges with imagination, courage, and creativity.
Now in our third year, we are truly blessed to have a committed group of storytellers who are exploring how to create social spaces full of warmth and trust, where stories can serve as teachers and healers for our ailing world. We have been practicing together in a variety of inventive ways, what it means to take responsibility for the stories of the past, and weave regenerative stories for the future….
We warmly invite you to join us on the festive graduation event which we will celebrate at the time of the Summer Solstice, on Saturday 22nd June, at Emerson College from 09:00 a.m. The storytellers will share, through storytelling and song, social happenings, discussions, and mini-workshops the fruit of their explorations of personal and global current themes.
Here is a taster of some of the presentations you will be able to see on the day:
Bringing to light ancestral stories of slavery and war
The healing power of stories facing shame, grief, and loneliness.
Stories and rituals to help us adapt to and respond to the current environmental reality
Exploring old paradigms through fresh perspectives
Opening spaces for truth speaking, social warmth and playful encounters
In the evening there will be a live band and a wild dance party in the hut!
The day is open to all. No tickets required. Some recommended age restrictions may apply.
For those of you who would like to stay for the whole weekend, we invite you to join us for the whole of the School Of Storytelling Summer Gathering. Keep an eye on the Emerson College Website & Storytelling at Emerson FB page for the full programme of events, talks, and storytelling nearer the time.
