Make Henry Smile! Our online appeal to bring Christmas cheer to Chailey

bgigive2

Nothing makes Henry smile more than being able to move his arms and legs in ways we all take for granted. But 8-year-old Henry has multiple physical challenges which makes exercising a real challenge.

Using a specialist exercise device known as an Innowalk, Henry and other young people at Chailey Heritage Foundation are able to take part in physical activity which is beneficial to their whole body and their wellbeing. This year’s Big Give Christmas Challenge is offering the charity the chance to buy their own Innowalk by matching online donations for one week in the run up to Christmas. The Big Give Christmas Challenge goes live at midday on 3rd December and runs until the 10th December.

Chailey Heritage Foundation’s Director of Development Sally Anne Murray said:

“The Big Give is an online campaign – offering us the chance to double the amount donated to us.  We need to raise £9,000 in online donations for the Innowalk, and with every donation being matched by our pledgers, we will reach our £18,000 target.

The Innowalk allows young people with complex disabilities the opportunity to exercise and enjoy all the other health benefits that movement can bring. It would be an amazing Christmas present!”

Henry has complex physical needs, including cerebral palsy, hydrocephalus and epilepsy. His mum Caroline understands how important movement is to her son.

“Henry is a full-time wheelchair user, so to know that he could use an Innowalk regularly would be just amazing. For me as a parent, it’s great to know that he is getting that exercise, that his heart is getting a pump and his legs are getting a good workout. An Innowalk would be really beneficial to Henry and to all of the children in the school.”

The Big Give Christmas Challenge is the UK’s biggest match funding campaign. For seven days, it offers supporters of participating charities the opportunity to have their donation doubled, thanks to the generosity of the following companies:. Candis, Jackson-Stops Mid Sussex, Focus Group, Sunninghill Construction, Thorne Civil Engineering, PGL Brickwork and Scaffolding, Adavirtual and Barwells Solicitors.
