NEW INITIATIVES Coming soon to Forest Row

Forest Row Men’s Shed

Have you heard of a Men’s Shed?

Forest Row Parish Council are looking to bring one to the village.

Men’s Sheds are community spaces for men to connect, converse and create. The activities are often similar to those of garden sheds, but for groups of men of all ages to enjoy together. They help reduce loneliness and isolation, but most importantly, they’re fun.

Do you know someone that would like to be a part of this?

The Men’s Shed concept started in the 1980s and 90s in Australia to offer men the opportunity to ‘potter’ much as they would in their own garden shed. The difference being that they would not be alone. The ability for men to share their skills, learn from others, undertake small and not so small projects in the company of other men is central to the philosophy of the Men’s Shed movement. As a result the idea has spread and, according to the UK Men’s Shed Association, there are now over 400 men’s sheds up and running in the UK.

Forest Row Community Fridge

The Council are very excited to report that a Community Fridge will be coming to Forest Row in the next few months. The Parish

Council have supported the initiative and can now confirm that it will be sited in the disused Bike Stop in the Lower Road car park.

Work will be commencing soon and an opening date will be published as soon as we have one. We will be looking for willing volunteers to help on our ‘Community Fridge Little Build’ who have skills in woodwork, plumbing, painting, electrics and tea making to get the building ready and then for afterwards to help run the sessions. Please get in touch in if you would like to be a part of this.
