The Coolings Experience is Growing, award winning nursery group purchases a 4th garden centre
Coolings Nurseries Ltd are pleased to announce the purchase of an additional garden centre, Wych Cross Garden Centre in Forest Row, East Sussex. This will join the family run group of 3 garden centres in Kent.
Wych Cross was established over 50 years ago as a traditional nursery specialising in roses, and at the beginning of the 2000’s it had one of the largest retail selections of roses in the UK, with over 1,400 varieties. Purchased by Wyevale Garden Centres in 2015 it has now consolidated it’s rose collection and established a thriving garden centre and tea room business whilst maintaining a reputation for roses and clematis.
Family run and known for their horticultural expertise, home grown plants and green credentials, Coolings are looking forward to welcoming the new centre into the fold and building on the Wych Cross specialist reputation for growing roses.
Paul Cooling, Chairman of the 3rd generation family business said “The whole team at Coolings is looking forward to welcoming their new colleagues from Wych Cross. The traditional nursery business, that has a great reputation for roses, is a great fit for Coolings.”
After completing the purchase on 5th August, Wych Cross Garden Centre closed temporarily for refurbishment but has now reopened.
Managing Director, Gary Carvosso, also said “we will work with the current team to further improve what is already a successful business. Plants will always remain at the core of what we do and we will not be rushing into any additional investment just yet, as we are mindful to preserve the wonderful charm of the site”.
The Cooling family owns and operates The Gardeners Garden Centre, Rushmore Hill, Knockholt, this 14-acre site also houses the production nurseries for the group, Green and Pleasant also in Knockholt has a 6-acre nature trail and award winning eco shop and The Potted Garden in Bearsted which was newly acquired by the Group in 2017.
